Microsoft is not just no longer supporting publisher, the application will be just plain gone. It's extraordinary to me that a huge number of files representing many hours of human labour will suddenly become unopenable.

I'm not saying Microsoft Publisher is necessarily good, but at work I run into a layout problem that Word won't handle, and there's nothing else available to me there.

    Crazy.

I'd guess they'll just shove another vibe coded app into there. MS is basically addicted to churn because they no longer sell anything to own. Its all rent; no one rents office for publisher.

I'm willing to bet that code would be an embarrassment to Microsoft and useless to anyone else.

I feel like I have mourned the death of MSPub at least once before.

The incentive to continue getting MS Office continues to shrink. First Outlook Classic being slowly replaced, now Publisher.

Thank goodness I have the perpetual version of 2024. I honestly don’t use it all that much, but it still comes through in a clutch.
