The controlled demolition of the West will be studied in the future. If there is anyone left to study.

As a generality, the winning side's historians write a lot of that kinda stuff.

China's predatory and anti-competitive trade practices, undervalued yuan, hacking, espionage, IP theft, etc., need to be formally recognised and penalised. They have lied, cheated and robbed their way to the top, and the West is in serious danger of being subdued by thugs who have seized control of the world by acting like criminals.
Back in the days of their entry into the WTO, we _knew_ the Chinese Communist Party were literally thuggish peasant bandits in suits. Wiser heads knew they absolutely could not be trusted. Yet weak minds, including the Harvard MBA class got greedy little dollar signs in their eyes and thought they could make money. They were led like pigs to the slaughter by people who have never been anything but our adversaries.

You have a lot to learn about the Orient, they're different, that doesn't mean they are worse, they're just different.
One thing you can learn from them is to stop blaming others and look inside, find out how we can do better. Besides, it's also quite unamerican to whine and blame others, especially on the 4th of July, we have done and we can still do better than China, but it isn't going to happen without some real change.

Please enlighten me -- if a robber pulls a gun on me in the street and demands my wallet, or if a burglar robs my house, then in what way must I blame myself? Normal human beings with common decency and honour would blame the criminal, not the victim.

> if a robber pulls a gun on me in the street and demands my wallet,
You're jumping the gun here, and it's a bad habit, ask Putin about it. Framing consensual trade as armed robbery is exactly the self-righteous attitude that leads to preemptive wars and self-destruction.
As far as China, they provided exactly what they were asked to provide, in exchange for what they were offered to take. The problem is with the deal artists across the table who believe that lining their own pockets should automatically solve all problems, for everyone, and forever. Maybe they shouldn't have surrounded themselves with suck up economists who tell them what they want to hear.
> then in what way must I blame myself?
I didn't ask you to blame yourself but to "find out how we can do better", I can only repeat that request.

Wars and self-destruction, if they happen, will be purely the responsibility of the Chinese side, who have been caught numerous times hacking, spying, copying and stealing the hard work of Western countries. China's conduct of the last 40 years has been the greatest illicit transfer of wealth in the history of the world.
NONE of this Chinese malfeasance has been 'consensual' or about 'free trade'
